The One More Time DVD Is Set For Release

On June 7, 2016, Anchor Bay Entertainment will be releasing the Christopher Walken and Amber Heard starring dramady “One More Time.” The story concerns a down on her luck rock musician (Jude) who is forced to move in with her rich father (Paul) who just happened to be a once successful musician. The two aren’t exactly on the best of terms and, as such, must work through their complications all while trying to get their careers on track.
The film is currently available on Starz Digital and is playing in select theaters. Expect to see a review form yours truly closer to the release of the forthcoming DVD.
10 Recommended Graphic Novels Part 2

Since there are many graphic novels/comic book series/trade paperbacks I treasure, I thought I would continue my list of recommendations with a second part. So, here they are in no order: Continue reading
Top 10 Horror Anthology Films

In honor of the upcoming “Holidays” (which is set for a VOD release 4/15/2016), this week’s list is dedicated to one of my favorite subgenres- horror anthology films. For years, horror anthology films sadly seemed to be a thing of the past, but lately there’s been a welcomed resurgence thanks to films like “The ABCs of Death,” “V/H/S,” “A Christmas Horror Story,” “Tales of Halloween,” etc. Granted, this recent batch has been highly uneven, but I’ll still take a mediocre horror anthology film over most modern films. Anyway, this list isn’t about those films. It’s all about the cream of the crop. Which films made the cut? Read on to see! Continue reading
10 Recommended Graphic Novels

As of late, I’ve been inhaling graphic novels on a daily basis so it felt like the right time to do a list about them. This isn’t intended to be a list of the greatest graphic novels (although some of these definitely are). Instead, it’s meant to be a list of graphic novels that I recommend others seek out if they haven’t done so already. So, here they are in no particular order… Continue reading
Twinkle Toes Lights Up New York Is Out On DVD April 5, 2016

From Skechers Entertainment (yes, the shoe company), comes a 71 minute animated film titled “Twinkle Toes Lights Up New York.” Obviously, this film isn’t going to have the large demographic appeal of a Pixar movie. It’s strictly aimed at families and children. And I mean strictly. Continue reading
The Top 10 Worst Comic Book Movies

We may be living in the golden age of comic book movies, but things weren’t always rosy. In fact, the last several years have seen some of the worst in the subgenre. In order to perhaps keep people away from these clunkers and or remind folks of historically bad cinematic mistakes, I though I would write up a list of the very worst comic book movies this week. Now, in case you are wondering why “Batman and Robin” and “Superman 4: The Quest For Peace” are not on the list, I do not think they are anywhere near the worst comic films. There’s no question they are bad movies, but they have camp value. Anyway, on with the list! Continue reading
Top 10 Comic Book TV Shows

If you’re a geek like me, you’re probably counting the days until the second season of “Daredevil” drops on Netflix. With comic book shows obviously being on my mind right now, it felt timely to pay tribute to the top of the line television comic book adaptations. On with the list! Continue reading
Top 10 Pulp Adventure Films

Top 10 Pulp Adventure Films
This week’s top 10 list is dedicated to a subgenre that doesn’t get the attention it so rightly deserves- pulp adventure films. Granted, it’s an old fashioned niche subgenre, but some of my all-time favorite films (and indeed some of the best films of all time) are apart of this category. These films may not be particularly deep when compared to something like “Citizen Kane,” but so what? When it comes to entertaining cinematic spectacles, these films are the cream of the crop. Continue reading
Top 10 Academy Awards Best Picture Winners

With the Oscars set to air on Sunday, the Super Bowl for movie geeks is obviously on my mind at the moment. However maddening, controversial, and self-serving as the Oscars may be at times, at the end of the day, it is still a celebration of cinema that inspires intelligent conversations and debates about the art of motion pictures.
Now, it’s no secret that the Best Picture winners are sometimes anything but. A lot of winners have faded from the public eye (“Tom Jones” and “A Beautiful Mind” come to mind), some winners are truly baffling (“Crash”??), a few films were robbed of the award (“Pulp Fiction,” “Star Wars,” and “Citizen Kane”), and there are many instances in which the best films didn’t even get nominated for Best Picture (1933’s “King Kong,” “The Dark Knight,” and much more). With all of that said, sometimes the Academy gets it right and that’s what this top 10 list is about. Continue reading
10 Random Recommendations

Instead of doing a specific top 10 list today, I thought I’d put out a list of random things I love that I would like to recommend to others. These are not movie exclusive recommendations as I have included a TV show, podcasts, a comic book series, audio dramas, an album, a card game, comedic commentary tracks, and even a sports league! There’s not much more for me to add here so on with the list! Continue reading
