City On A Hill Season 1 Is Now Available On DVD

Produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and created by Charlie McLean, “City On A Hill” is a 10 episode Showtime series set in 1990s Boston. The Kevin Bacon starring series (which is helmed by showrunner Tom Fontana) is a gritty drama about corruption and crime. More specifically, the story revolves around a crooked FBI agent (Jackie), a District Attorney (Decourcy) who is trying to clean up the city, and two brothers (Frankie and Jimmy) who robbed an armored truck.

After genre elevating series like “The Shield” and “The Wire” or even films like Affleck’s own “The Town,” “City On A Hill” feels like an overly familiar entry in the crime drama genre. Nothing here feels fresh and the characters (many of which sport bad Boston accents) lack dimension. With that said, the adult drama is bound to find an audience with fans of crime dramas and cop stories.

Presentation: 16:9

Audio Tracks: Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0

Extras: 3 featurettes on the first 3 episodes, a featurette on Kyra Sedgwick directing, and a fetaurette titled “Capturing Boston.”
