2018 was a weird year for cinema. I saw a lot of rewarding indie films and documentaries, a few clunkers, plenty of good movies, and a number of deeply overhyped movies (I’m looking at you “A Star Is Born,” “Green Book,” and “Hereditary”). Much to my surprise the films from the first half of the year reigned supreme…and most of them were blockbusters! That is very uncommon to say the least. Of course, the back half of the year saw plenty of award worthy winners as well. Below I have posted my personal ten favorite films of the year along with a number of notables. As with every year, I haven’t seen everything just yet. I have a handful of titles left to see and if one or more of these films make a big impression on me I will update the list. Anyway, on with the list! Continue reading →

Despite the fact that a few major shows were MIA this year like “Fargo,” “Stranger Things,” “The Punisher,” and “Game of Thrones,” that didn’t stop 2018 from being a banner year for television. While there were several returning favorites, 2018 saw the release of several incredible brand new shows mostly from non TV network outlets once again. Below I have compiled my 10 favorite series of the year along with a list of notable favorites. On with the list! Continue reading →

Without a Marvel, Star Wars, or James Bond film coming to theaters, this fall feels strangely bare and low-key. With that said, the studios are still set to release plenty of promising looking Oscar worthy offerings, blockbusters, crowd pleasers and movies that will undoubtedly take audiences and critics by surprise. Below I have listed my personal list of the 10 most anticipated fall and winter films of 2018 in no particular order. On with the list! Continue reading →
