It’s the 60th anniversary of Star Trek and I thought I’d pay tribute to the timeless sci-fi franchise by doing a new updated ranking of all of the series and the TV movie.
2023 proved to be a rather odd year for televised and streaming series. Several of the very best shows ended their run and several of the very best shows bypassed this year and are scheduled to resume production next year and or release next year. Luckily, there were plenty of new series that wowed viewers, but there were also several high-profile series that turned out to be colossal busts (I’m looking at you “Secret Invasion”). Below I have listed my 10 personal favorite series along with a host of notable favorites. In the words of The Doctor, “Allons-y.”
With “Star Trek: Picard” season 3 starting next week, now felt like the appropriate time to re-rank the Trek series. It’s been nearly 3 years since the last ranking and since then there have been 3 new series along with new seasons of “Star Trek: Picard” and “Star Trek: Discovery.”
March is a BIG month for entertainment across the board. You have arguably the most anticipated movie of the year, new and returning favorites on TV, brand new albums, major events and a massive 4K release. To say we’ll all have our hands full in March is an understatement. Below I have listed the 10 biggest releases of the month, but trust me when I say there’s more than 10 things to look out for. With a severe lack of movies in 2020, people were able to take solace in the fact that TV shows were still being released on both TV and through streaming services. Thankfully, there was a great deal to watch while we all quarantined even though there was a lot of mediocrity to sift through. Now that the first season of “Star Trek: Picard” has aired in full, the time felt right to update my Star Trek series rankings. As of right now, “Star Trek: The Original Series,” “Star Trek: Enterprise,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Star Trek: The Animated Series,” and “Star Trek: Discovery” are available on Blu-ray while “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Star Trek: Voyager” are only available on DVD. “Star Trek: Picard” will undoubtedly hit home video later this year, but you can watch it now on CBS All Access (which is currently offering a free 2 month trial if I’m not mistaken).
