With the Oscar nominations due out Tuesday, it felt like the perfect time to make an Oscar centric list. A few years ago I posted a list of the 10 best Oscar winning movies so why not whip a list of the movies that should have won Best Picture? Of course this is entirely an opinionated conversational piece.
With a severe lack of movies in 2020, people were able to take solace in the fact that TV shows were still being released on both TV and through streaming services. Thankfully, there was a great deal to watch while we all quarantined even though there was a lot of mediocrity to sift through. Below I have listed my 10 personal favorite shows of 2020 along with some notables. Let the list begin!
Although I am sure more series have yet to be announced for the remaining months of 2020, there’s already a lot to look forward to on TV and via streaming. Below I have listed the 10 shows I am most looking forward to this fall and winter in no particular order. Enjoy.Continue reading →
September looks to be a very busy month in the entertainment world with major video games being released, new and returning shows on streaming and TV, major motion pictures getting unusual releases, and even some high profile albums hitting shelves. Below I have singled out 10 releases that are catching my eye the most. Of course, there are other titles like “Antebellum,” “Coastal Elite,” “Woke,” and so on that look intriguing as well, but they just missed the cut. Continue reading →
While there are many films to anticipate in 2017, there may be even more to look forward to in the world of TV. This year will see buzzed about new series, the long awaited return of some of TV’s current best shows, and the resurrection of some of the greatest series and franchises of all time. While I could have easily done a top 20 here, I narrowed it down to just 10. On with the list! Continue reading →
For this week’s list, I have attempted something that proved rather difficult. I have compiled a list of my 10 favorite TV series of all time. Now, I realize the list is heavy with sci-fi series, but what can you do? These are the shows that resonated with me the most. On with the list! Continue reading →
2015 was largely an underwhelming year for cinema (that best/worst list will be coming soon), but it was a good year for TV and web series. As per usual, cable and various other platforms (like Netflix) had the best series while the networks were generally a wasteland of tedious dreck. For the most part, I managed to avoid a lot of the “worst” series of the year so that list is fairly small this time around. Anyway, enough of my chatter, on with the list! Continue reading →
2014 may have been a rather gloomy year in the world, but from a film and television perspective, there was much to admire.
As most people know, film studios traditionally save their best films for the end of the year, but 2014 was a strangely top heavy year. The box office may have been down in the summer, but most of my personal favorites came from that season (which is a real rarity to say the least). Likewise, a majority of the best new and returning TV series came early in the year with the fall primarily being filled with little more than network tripe.
