With “Captain America: Brave New World” now in theaters, it’s time for an updated ranking of the MCU films. It’s been 5 years since the last ranking so it felt like a good time for a revision. Some films have moved spots and there were some tough choices to be made in the middle of the list. It is quite likely my choices won’t align with others, but that’s what makes these lists fun.
Before “Black Widow” is released and the new MCU era begins, I thought I’d look back at the first 23 films of the MCU. “Spider-Man: Far From Home” makes its debut on this list and I have done a fair amount of re-ordering here as some titles have gone up or down on the list. On with the list!Continue reading →
Now that “Avengers: Endgame” is breaking records left and right and dominating watercooler conversations, it felt like the right time to update my personal ranking of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films (or MCU for short). There are three new additions to the list since I last updated and there’s a bit of shuffling in terms of order of other titles. Anyway, enough of my yammering. On with the list!Continue reading →
2018 was a weird year for cinema. I saw a lot of rewarding indie films and documentaries, a few clunkers, plenty of good movies, and a number of deeply overhyped movies (I’m looking at you “A Star Is Born,” “Green Book,” and “Hereditary”). Much to my surprise the films from the first half of the year reigned supreme…and most of them were blockbusters! That is very uncommon to say the least. Of course, the back half of the year saw plenty of award worthy winners as well. Below I have posted my personal ten favorite films of the year along with a number of notables. As with every year, I haven’t seen everything just yet. I have a handful of titles left to see and if one or more of these films make a big impression on me I will update the list. Anyway, on with the list! Continue reading →
In need of gift ideas for Black Friday, Christmas, Small Business Saturday, Hanukkah, Cyber Monday or for yourself? You’ve come to the right place. Given that my site largely covers physical media, most of my listings are Blu-ray and 4K related, but there are a few other non movie items mentioned. You’ll just have to read on to find out what they are. On with the list! Continue reading →
With “Avengers: Infinity War” now out in theaters, it felt like the proper time to update and reassess my personal ranking of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films (or MCU for short). Compared to my last list, there’s quite a bit of change here as some films have gone up or down while newer entries debuted high on the list. Anyway, enough of my yammering. On with the list!Continue reading →
2018 is a brand new year and with that comes a new slate of movies. While there are the expected anticipated comic book movies, the year will also offer up a variety of films in other genres from musicals to boxing films. Below I have posted the 10 films I am most looking forward to as of right now. Obviously, the slate will change and there will sure to be films that come out of nowhere, but for now, these are the ones I am most excited about. On with the list! Continue reading →
Now that the full schedule has been released, it’s time to start hypothesizing about what we will see from San Diego Comic Con this year. While I won’t be attending the Con myself, I will (as per usual) be monitoring all of the news from geek mecha with bated breath. Below I have listed my personal list of the most anticipated panels. Obviously, there are other panels I will be keeping my eye on, but these 10 are the ones that I am most looking forward to reading and or hearing about. On with the list! Continue reading →
