With the summer film season winding down, it’s time to look forward to the fall and winter movie seasons. Not only will we be seeing major tentpole releases, but the Academy Award worthy movies will be hitting the big screen as well. Below I have listed my 10 most anticipated fall and winter 2017 films. Union Furnace Hits Blu-ray And DVD August 15, 017
On August 15, 2017 Metropol Pictures is releasing a new horror-thriller to Blu-ray and DVD titled “Union Furnace.” The film revolves around a debt ridden small town crook named Cody who decides to make some money by taking part in a game. Unfortunately, it turns out to be a deadly game of survival for Cody.
Note: The home video release of the film will contain a making of featurette. I should be reviewing this title in the coming weeks.
D23 Expo 2017 Wish List
Disney’s biennial convention/expo is back this Friday and, as you can probably guess, there are likely to be some epic trailer releases and big film reveals. While I won’t be attending D23 myself, I will, of course, be following the news that comes out of the evergrowing event. 10 Most Anticipated San Diego Comic Con 2017 Panels
Now that the full schedule has been released, it’s time to start hypothesizing about what we will see from San Diego Comic Con this year. The Complete Cinematic Titanic Collection Is Coming To DVD!
I don’t often post news about upcoming releases, but this was too cool to ignore. Everyone’s favorite label Shout! Factory has announced they are releasing all 12 Cinematic Titanic DVD releases in a DVD box set August 8, 2017. For those that aren’t in the known, Cinematic Titanic was an independently made movie riffing series that featured former “Mystery Science Theater 3000” cast members Joel Hodgson, Frank Conniff, Mary Jo Pehl, J. Elvis Weinstein and Trace Beaulieu. The set contains the studio recorded episodes “The Oozing Skull,” “The Doomsday Machine,” “The Wasp Woman,” “Legacy of Blood,” “Santa Claus Conquers The Martians,” “Frankenstein’s Castle Of Freaks,” and “Blood of the Vampires” and the live show recordings of “East Meets Watts,” “The Alien Factor,” “Danger On Tiki Island,” “War of the Insects,” and “Rattlers.” Not only have some of these releases been out of print, but this will be the first time all 12 releases have been collected together. The set will include 2 new extras titled “Between The Riffs” and “A Look Back With J. Elvis Weinstein.” Unfortunately, the 3 unreleased live shows are nowhere to be found on this set, but maybe they will get a release down the line?
