10 Most Anticipated Fall/Winter 2017 Films

With the summer film season winding down, it’s time to look forward to the fall and winter movie seasons. Not only will we be seeing major tentpole releases, but the Academy Award worthy movies will be hitting the big screen as well. Below I have listed my 10 most anticipated fall and winter 2017 films. Obviously, there’s more I am interested in than just these 10, but these are the top tier ones for me. On with the list!

  1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi- I liked “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (especially the characters), but it was a deeply flawed and frustrating film to me as a hardcore “Star Wars” fan. With Rian Johnson at the helm for Ep. 8, however, I am optimistic. Granted, I am still nervous, but the rumors of this entry being different from what we have seen before is refreshing considering how overly familiar and lazy TFA was. At any rate, this is easily THE most anticipated film of the fall/winter for me.

  1. Justice League- I have no idea how this DCEU film will turn out, but with Joss Whedon finishing up the movie, I am certainly more amped to see it.

  1. The Disaster Artist- Of course I’m looking forward to an adaptation of one of my favorite novels about the making of one of my favorite bad movies.

  1. Thor: Ragnarok- I’m on board with any movie featuring the Hulk. To be fair, I’m on board with any MCU movie though.

  1. Last Flag Flying- I’m always excited for a new Richard Linklater movie.

  1. Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters- It’s unclear if this new animated Godzilla film will hit the U.S. this year on Netflix, but, regardless, my anticipation for this project is through the roof. There’s so much potential with an animated Godzilla film.

  1. It- Can this film adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel live up to the buzz? Early trailers seem to indicate it will.

  1. Wonder Wheel- This 1950’s Coney Island set Woody Allen film certainly has me intrigued.

  1. Downsizing- I have yet to see footage of director Alexander Payne’s new high concept film, but the premise alone warrants a spot on this list.

  1. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri- Martin McDonagh + a funny trailer + one of the best casts ever assembled= What’s not to like?
