Top 10 RiffTrax

One of my favorite things to watch (especially in these challenging times) is RiffTrax. Whether the trio (Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett, and Mike Nelson) are mocking B-movies, blockbusters, or shorts, their comedic riffs are always guaranteed to make you laugh. Given that they have quite an extensive catalog now, I thought I’d draft up a list of my personal top 10 favorites. Keep in mind I have not seen everything and that these ten are in no particular order.

As to where you can find RiffTrax titles, they are available in several places. Rifftrax.com is obviously the go to place to support them, but you can also find numerous free streaming titles on Tubi TV and Amazon Prime. You can also rent and purchase titles on Amazon Prime. Daily streams are available on Pluto TV and Twitch as well. Lastly, you can purchase DVDs and Blu-rays from the RiffTrax site, Amazon, and other media sellers.

  1. RiffTrax Live: Birdemic- The “Citizen Kane” of RiffTrax. “Birdemic” is already a hilarious bad movie on its own, but with the movie being goofed on, it’s ten times better. You can’t go wrong with the riffed versions of James Nguyen’s other films “Replica” and “Julie and Jack.”

  1. RiffTrax Live: Reefer Madness- I may be biased here as my Michael Bay joke was used in this live show, but it’s still a top tier title regardless!

  1. A Talking Cat!?!- This dopey family movie was made for RiffTrax.

  1. Fun In Balloon Land- Yay, Yay! An absolutely bonkers parade “movie” that features some of the most gut busting jokes by the RiffTrax crew.

  1. RiffTrax Live: Santa And The Ice Cream Bunny- The RiffTrax team seem to excel at finding the most insane holiday movies. This is one of them.

  1. At Your Fingertips: Grasses- There have been many great shorts over the years like the Norman series, “Shake Hands With Danger,” “Setting Up A Room” and any of the Gabe centric “Batman” serials, but “At Your Fingertips: Grasses” just might be the best. Not only does this short pose the important question “Is corn grass?,” but it also features the most hideous grass arts and crafts you will ever lay eyes on.

  1. The Apple- The bizarre cult musical has long been a favorite of mine, but this is the best way to watch it now.

  1. The Room- “The Room” is arguably the greatest so bad it’s good movie. It’s a one of a kind “drama” that is endlessly quotable thanks to the ever fascinating Tommy Wiseau. Somehow, RiffTrax has managed to make it even more entertaining with spot on impressions and some of their finest jokes.

  1. Santa’s Village of Madness- Madness is a good word to describe this. The less you know going in the better.

  1. Twilight Saga- Ok, this is a bit of a cheat, but I can’t pick one. You have to watch the entire series of films to catch all the running gags and masterful comedic jokes.
