We all know 2015 was a strong year for television (evidence here: https://dvdcorner.net/2015/12/19/the-best-and-worst-tv-showsweb-series-of-2015/), but it wasn’t quite so memorable for cinema. While there were plenty of good films, there were just as many mediocre or awful films. What is most disappointing about 2015’s crop of films is that there were very few GREAT films. In fact, aside from my top 3, none of these films hold a candle to 2014’s strong offerings.
On with the list! Continue reading →

As someone who deeply loves the “Star Wars” saga (they are my favorite cinematic offerings), tonight feels like Christmas Eve as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” premieres tomorrow (December 17, 2015) with early shows followed by a full wide release on Friday December 18, 2015. I don’t have to tell you that this will be an exciting release. Not only are we about to see the rebirth of the beloved franchise for presumably many years to come, but we are also seeing a genuine cinematic event. There aren’t many films that are a cultural phenomenon, but a new “Star Wars” film is just that. From the iconic characters to the fully realized universe, the “Star Wars” saga captures our collective imagination and provides a seemingly endless supply of joy and entertainment to people of all ages. Whether or not “The Force Awakens” will be as revered as the original trilogy remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, I and many, many others will be gleefully going to the theaters to be transported to a galaxy far, far away once again.

The Best And Worst Films And TV/Web Shows Of 2014
2014 may have been a rather gloomy year in the world, but from a film and television perspective, there was much to admire.
As most people know, film studios traditionally save their best films for the end of the year, but 2014 was a strangely top heavy year. The box office may have been down in the summer, but most of my personal favorites came from that season (which is a real rarity to say the least). Likewise, a majority of the best new and returning TV series came early in the year with the fall primarily being filled with little more than network tripe.
Anyway, enough of my yammering, on with the list! Continue reading →
