What’s Being Released In May 2023?

In terms of the entertainment calendar, this is the start of the “summer” season. As such, there are big theater, TV, album and video game releases. As per usual, I have singled out the 10 most enticing offerings in my humble opinion. 

1. Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3- How will James Gunn close out his MCU trilogy? We’ll find out May 5 in theaters.

2. Dave Matthews Band: Walk Around The Moon- It’s been 5 years since the last DMB album, but the multi-talented rock band returns with a brand new record May 19th.

3. The Muppets Mayhem- It’s no secret that The Muppets era at Disney has been uneven at best, but this new series revolving around The Electric Mayhem band could be exactly what Muppet fans have been hoping for. May 10 on Disney+.

4. Redfall- A brand new FPS video game involving vampire hunters could be the next big Xbox IP. May 1.

5. Fast X- The saga about family continues with the 10th installment. May 19 in theaters.

6. Star Wars: Visions Season 2- On May The 4th Be With You on Disney+, the second season of this animated series will contain 9 new animated shorts from 9 different animation studios. If the underrated first season was any indication, we’re in for another creative and experimental treat.

7. American Born Chinese- A TV series adaptation of the beloved graphic novel that features 4 “Everything Everywhere All At Once” cast members? I’m on board. May 24 on Disney+.

8. Neighbor: Self-Titled- The jam band you really need to hear will release their debut studio album May 19.

9. Superman 5-Film Collection 4K- WB continues their 100th anniversary celebration with a brand new 4K box set containing the first 4 films (including both versions of “Superman 2”). This set will fly its way to stores May 9.

10. Unicorn: Warriors Eternal- Genndy Tartakovsky is back with a new adult animated miniseries. What more needs to be said? May 4 on Adult Swim.
