10 Recommendations Part 11
With the Coronavirus pandemic keeping people in doors, media recommendations are needed now more than ever to keep people entertained in these difficult times. I have whipped up a new list of 10 more recommendations for everything from comic books to movies. Enjoy.
- Tubi- I don’t normally bring up streaming services on here as I am an advocate for physical media. However, this free streaming service deserves more recognition due to its wealth of content. From weird cult movies and classics to a huge assortment of RiffTrax and TV series, there’s something for everyone on tubitv.com
- Dead and Company- You don’t have to be a Deadhead to appreciate this group comprised of past members of the Grateful Dead (namely Bob Weir) and new additions like John Mayer and Oteil Burbridge. Although they do not have any studio albums currently, you can hear live albums on Spotify or even watch full length official live shows on their YouTube page.
- Uncut Gems- With “Uncut Gems” now on Blu-ray, DVD and streaming, you can now watch Adam Sandler’s best performance (and an intense movie to boot).
- Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made- This recent Disney+ exclusive Tom McCarthy directed movie didn’t get a ton of press, but it should have. It’s heartfelt and charming and is easily one of the best films of 2020 thus far.
- The Peanut Butter Falcon- Now is the perfect time to watch this heartwarming movie.
- Universal Classic Monsters- With the new “The Invisible Man” movie potentially starting a new Monsterverse, why not go back and watch the great original Universal Classic Monster movies? Might I suggest picking up the complete 30 film collection Blu-ray box set. One of the very best Blu-ray releases.
- Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren Comic Book Mini-Series- Want to know more about how Ben Solo turned to the dark side? Pick up this 4 issue comic book mini-series.
- Between Me And My Mind- A couple weeks ago I watched this documentary about Trey Anastasio and was quite moved by it. You don’t have to love Phish or his own band to appreciate this movie about family, healing, music, art, life, and remembrances.
- Dragon Ball Super Manga- Sure, you could go with the anime series as well, but the manga is such a great read DB fans.
- RoboCop- The new Arrow Video Blu-ray release is chock full of extras and a 4K restoration of the classic sci-fi film.
