5 Recommended NFL Documentary Series

Now that the 2026-2027 NFL season has begun, it’s only right for today’s list to be NFL centric. Today I am recommending 5 NFL documentary series. Let’s kick off.
1. Hard Knocks- The gold standard of NFL documentaries. Sure, some seasons are better than others, but no series dives as deep into all aspects of the NFL from off-season, drafts, training camp, to the regular season.
2. Quarterback- Netflix’s documentary series chronicling several quarterbacks through a single season is a riveting watch into the personal and professional lives of quarterbacks in various stages of their careers. The spin-off “Receiver” is worth a gander too.
3. 30 For 30- Since 2009, “30 For 30” has been arguably the best ESPN ongoing series that covers all manner of sports. Of course, there are plenty of NFL centric episodes dedicated to the 1985 Bears, 90s Buffalo Bills, Bo Jackson, and much more.
4. Rise of the 49ers- I may be biased as a 49ers fan, but this was an engrossing series that is largely about the 80s and early 90s eras (AKA the golden years).
5. America’s Game: The Super Bowl Champions- NFL Films productions revolving around each year’s Super Bowl winning team.
