L.A. Guns- Live From The Guild Theatre Blu-ray Review

80’s hair metal band L.A. Guns has resurfaced with a new live recording dubbed L.A. Guns- Live From The Guild Theatre. The show (which was recorded live at Menlo Park, California on July 10, 2025) features a 17 track setlist as follows: 1. Intro/Taste It 2. Cannonball 3. Electric Gypsy 4. Sex Action 5. Hellraisers Ball 6. Hit And Run 7. Like A Drug 8. Speed 9. One More Reason 10. Theremin Jam 11. Over The Edge 12. Guitar Solo 13. I Wanna Be Your Man 14. Lucky Motherf***er 15. Never Enough 16. The Ballad Of Jayne 17. Rip And Tear

Hair metal aficionados will no doubt be familiar with L.A. Guns. For those not as familiar with the scene, the hard rock band may be somewhat obscure. They are best known for their biggest hit “The Ballad Of Jayne” and for being one of the two original bands that spun off into the vastly superior 80s rock giants Guns N’ Roses. The band has gone through numerous lineup changes over the years, but for this particular live recording the band features Tracii Guns (guitar), Phil Lewis (singer), Johnny Martin (bass), Ace Von Johnson (guitar) and Shawn Duncan (drums).

Musically, the sound and songs are a bit indistinguishable from one another. Aside from the catchy show closer “Rip And Tear,” the band lacks the songwriting prowess of their hair metal competitors. With that said, there’s no denying that the band puts on a fun show. Even if you aren’t jiving with the music or write them off as a nostalgia act, the concert is nothing if not energetic. Tracii Guns in particular can really shred on the guitar and is worth watching from a technical standpoint.

If you’re a longtime fan of the band, this live release was made for you. Pick it up starting tomorrow Sept. 4, 2026.

Video/Audio:

Presentation: 1.37:1 1080p. How does it look? While nowhere near the level of a concert film like “Ghost: Rite Here Rite now,”  the picture quality is respectable enough for this live recording in a smaller venue.

Audio Track: Dolby Digital 2.0. How does it sound? The track is uneven and would have benefited from a higher quality audio track.
