10 Random Recommendations Part 30

It’s been awhile, but it’s time for a new round of entertainment recommendations.

1. Apollo 10 ½- It’s a shame this new animated Richard Linklater film seems to be getting lost in the shuffle as it’s easily one of 2022’s best films. 

2. Ghost- Impera- After a long 4 year wait, Ghost follows up their best album (Prequelle) with a rockin’ new album dubbed Impera. Can’t recommend it enough for fans of the cult rock band.

3. The Wonderful World Of The Brothers Grimm Blu-ray- Every now and then a movie will come along that will completely take you by surprise. This fantasy gem is one of those movies. The Blu-ray release from Warner Archive is among the best I’ve seen all year.

4. Archive 81- It may have been unceremoniously cancelled by Netflix already, but horror fans should seek out this underrated one season series.

5. Star Wars: Darth Plagueis: The Essential Legends Collection- If you have yet to read one of the very best Star Wars books, you should check out this new paperback re-release. The story about Palpatine’s past is positively compelling.

6. Weezer- SZNZ: Spring- This year Weezer will be releasing 4 EPS (one for each season of the year). Their first release for Spring is a fun, breezy 7 tracks.

7. RiffTrax Live! Amityville: The Evil Escapes- One of my main comfort viewings is RiffTrax as they never cease to make me laugh. This recent home video release of one of last year’s live shows is an absolute blast.

8. Shawscope Volume 1 Blu-ray- These past 2 years has seen a treasure trove of martial arts Blu-ray releases, but none have been better than this epic box set release of 12 Shaw Brothers films.

9. The Outfit- This little twisty gangster movie starring Mark Rylance came and went in theaters, but hopefully it will find a new audience on home video.

10. Star Trek: Prodigy- There’s a lot of Trek series right now, but this animated one aimed at a younger audience is a pleasant surprise. The “Star Trek: Voyager” connections are especially rewarding for longtime Trek fans.
