What’s Being Released In May 2022?
May is officially the start of the summer entertainment season and what a May it is. Big movies, big new shows, big returning shows, big food releases, big home video releases, and big events. The keyword being big here. Below I have listed the 10 most notable releases in my humble opinion. On with the list!
1. Obi-Wan Kenobi- On May 27 we get not one but two episodes of the long-awaited Disney+ Star Wars series which sees the return of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen.
2. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness- After “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” anticipation for this sequel reached new heights. Will Sam Raimi’s debut for the MCU live up to the hype? May 6 in theaters.
3. Stranger Things Season 4- After a long 3 year wait, the fourth season finally hits Netflix May 27.
4. Star Wars Celebration- On May 26-29 the biggest Star Wars convention in the world hits Anaheim. Will we see new trailers? Will we get announcements for new films and shows?
5. Jackass 4.5- The great thing about a new Jackass movie being released is that we basically get 2 new Jackass movies now with a .5 release. The 2nd new movie this year hits Netflix May 20.
6. Mexican Pizza- Worry not Taco Bell fans, the Mexican Pizza makes its return May 19.
7. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds- A brand new Trek series revolving around Captain Pike and his crew hits Paramount+ May 5.
8. Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers- If trailers are any indication, viewers are in for a fun, meta, clever cinematic experience that features all sorts of Disney characters. May 20 on Disney+
9. Escape From New York 4K- Scream Factory releases John Carpenter’s cult classic movie on 4K May 17.
10. Top Gun: Maverick- After many lengthy delays, the Top Gun sequel flies to the big screen May 27. Yes, May 27 will be an extremely stacked day.
