Ranking The Jackass Movies
With “Jackass Forever” now in theaters, now is as good of a time as any to rank the movies. I’m including the .5 movies here as well as “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa.” While not on this list, the CKY material and, of course, the MTV series are well worth seeking out if you have yet to see those. On with the list!
1. Jackass: The Movie- The first and still best of the franchise. It perfectly captures the spirit of the series and has the most iconic moments of the film series.
2. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa- The Jackass franchise went in a new direction here with this 2013 movie that has a narrative story mixed with hidden camera comedy. Yes, there’s plenty of gut bustingly hilarious moments, but the movie has a surprising amount of heart too. I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing more films like this.
3. Jackass 2- A consistently funny sequel.
4. Jackass 3.5- Controversial opinion- I prefer this to 3. The barrel surfing, peppermint soda bottles, phantom camera, face kick, and behind-the-scenes stories are a laugh riot.
5. Bad Grandpa .5- This is more of a making of documentary with cutting room footage, but it’s still a hilarious companion piece to “Bad Grandpa.”
6. Jackass Forever- After a 12 year break since “Jackass 3,” most of the regulars return alongside a group of newbies who have no problem fitting right in (especially Poopies, Jasper and Zach Holmes). Danger Ehren easily steals the show with the wildest and funniest moments.
7. Jackass 3- The 3D gimmick and extreme gross-out factor take it down a notch, but there are still plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
8. Jackass 2.5- Basically a collection of unused footage from “Jackass 2” mixed with interviews. Most of the material was understandably left on the cutting room floor, but the last 15-20 minutes delivers in the laugh department.
