What’s Being Released In August 2021?

The summer season may be winding down, but there’s still a great deal of entertainment in store in August. Below I have picked 10 of the most notable releases in my humble opinion. On with the list!
1. The Suicide Squad- Without a doubt the biggest movie of August is DC’s Suicide Squad sequel. Early word is that this is yet another winner from director James Gunn. Aug. 5 on HBOMax and in theaters.
2. Reservation Dogs- A new comedy series co-created by Taika Waititi. What more needs to be said? Aug. 9 on FX On Hulu.
3. Heels- After starring in “Arrow,” Stephen Amell’s next TV project is this new pro wrestling centric series on Starz. Aug. 15.
4. What If…?- After “Loki,” Marvel’s next big series is an animated anthology that proposes alternate scenarios in the Marvel Universe. No spoilers as to what those stories are. Aug. 11 on Disney+
5. Val- Val Kilmer points the camera at himself in this buzzed about documentary. Aug. 6 on Amazon Prime.
6. Annette- I’m not the world’s biggest Leos Carax fan, but I’m intrigued by the musical primarily because of the cast (Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard). Aug. 20 on Amazon Prime.
7. Transformers: The Movie 4K- Transformers fans may want to roll out to the stores Aug. 3 to pick up this bizarre fan favorite 1986 animated Transformers film on 4K from Shout! Factory
8. Chapelwaite- This series based on Stephen King’s “Jerusalem’s Lot” is certainly ripe with potential. Aug. 22 on Epix.
9. Aliens: Fireteam- A new video game third-person shooter that puts you in the fight against Aliens. Aug. 24 on Xbox One and Series S/X, PS 4 and 5, and Windows.
10. CODA- This drama film was THE talk of the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. Will it live up to the hype? We’ll find out Aug. 13 on Apple+.
