10 Most Anticipated Films Of 2019

2019 looks to be a big year at the movies (especially when it comes to Disney’s epic slate). While there’s bound to be films scheduled at a later date and smaller gems popping up unexpectedly, the ten films listed below are currently my most anticipated in the new year. On with the list!

1. Godzilla: King of the Monsters- I’ve been a long-time Godzilla fan and this large scale forthcoming installment (which will have Rodan, King Ghidorah, and Mothra) is a dream film come true.

2. Avengers: Endgame- This one goes without saying. Everyone and their mother is eager to see who will make it out alive and how this saga concludes.

3. Star Wars Episode 9- Once upon a time this would have easily been number 1 on my list, but after the underwhelming Episodes 7 and 8, my anticipation has diminished. I’m far more excited for “The Mandalorian” but that’s for another list entirely. At any rate, there are reasons to be optimistic with Billy Dee Williams reprising the role of Lando, Matt Smith appearing as someone, and the Knights of Ren rumored to finally appear.

4. Spider-Man: Far From Home- “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is my favorite Spidey movie and quite possibly my favorite MCU film. I’m eager to see the sequel and, more importantly, Mysterio!

5. Are You Afraid Of The Dark?- As someone who grew up on the ahead of its time Nickelodeon horror anthology series, I am quite curious to see how this will be rebooted for the big screen.

6. Us- If the creepy trailer is any indication, Jordan Peele’s follow-up to “Get Out” looks to be another horror-thriller winner.

7. The Dead Don’t Die- Jim Jarmusch re-teaming with Adam Driver and Bill Murray for a zombie film? Count me in.

8. Toy Story 4- The first 3 Toy Story films are as good as cinema gets. There’s no reason to think the fourth film won’t follow suit.

9. The Irishman- Martin Scorsese + Al Pacino + Robert DeNiro + Joe Pesci. This upcoming Netflix film could very well be a new Scorsese masterwork.

10. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood- Even though I felt “The Hateful 8” was Quentin Tarantino’s weakest work to date, I’m game to see what the auteur has up his sleeve with this big ensemble period piece.
