10 Most Anticipated Fall/Winter 2018 Films

Without a Marvel, Star Wars, or James Bond film coming to theaters, this fall feels strangely bare and low-key. With that said, the studios are still set to release plenty of promising looking Oscar worthy offerings, blockbusters, crowd pleasers and movies that will undoubtedly take audiences and critics by surprise. Below I have listed my personal list of the 10 most anticipated fall and winter films of 2018 in no particular order. On with the list!

1. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse- For fans of the Spider-Man universe, there’s a lot of reasons to be excited about this forthcoming animated feature film, but none more so than seeing Miles Morales finally get the spotlight.

2. Can You Ever Forgive Me?- I can’t say I am fond of most of Melissa McCarthy’s comedic vehicles, but there’s no denying she is a talented actress. While the movie does have comedy, it will be quite interesting to see McCarthy tackle a biographical comedy-drama about a forger of letters.

3. Creed 2- After the masterpiece that was “Creed,” I can’t help but be pumped up for a follow-up that will also feature Ivan Drago and his son!

4. Mary Poppins Returns- Disney seems to be banking hard on this sequel which makes me wonder if it’s really something, dare I say, magical? Given the cast, it wouldn’t be surprise me if it was.

5. Ballad of Buster Scruggs- The Coen Brothers return to the western genre. I’m all in on this one.

6. The Sisters Brothers- Another western? You’re darn tootin’! The main cast alone of Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly has me sold on this one.

7. The Other Side Of The Wind- The long-awaited unfinished Orson Welles film has finally been completed. Regardless of the outcome, this is an important part of cinema history.

8. Suspiria- While I appreciate the artistry of Dario Argento’s original film, I was never a big fan of it. A new 2 ½ hour remake sounds a bit excessive, but with director Luca Guadagnino at the helm, I’m certainly intrigued. The reports of truly insane imagery don’t hurt either.

9. The Old Man And The Gun- Having now retired from acting, this movie is set to be Robert Redford’s last acting role. Judging by the trailer, I think we’re all in for a treat.

10. Aquaman- I’m still not quite sold on this DC film yet, but there’s no denying the fact that James Wan is crafting a big, ambitious movie here. Like any comic book or comic book movie fan, I’ll be in the theater waiting to see how it all turns out.
