Godzilla: Rage Across Time Issue 5 Comic Book Review
“Godzilla: Rage Across Time” concludes with an action heavy issue.
In the fifth and final issue of the “Godzilla: Rage Across Time” comic book mini-series, writers Jeff Fotos and Jeff Zornow begin the story by having the two archaeologists make a startling discover when they find the bones of homo sapiens and a velociraptor together. The story then jump back to the Cretaceous period where dinosaurs roamed the Earth. It turns out the dinosaurs are not alone, however, as there are Kaiju galore such as Mothra, Godzilla, and Rodan! Naturally, the issue dives into plenty of dino and Kaiju battles before the mystery of the bones is revealed in the end.
After the last two lackluster issues, “Godzilla: Rage Across Time” rebounds a bit with issue 5. The dialogue lite issue is mostly comprised of big, colorful, and visually action panels (courtesy of talented artist Jeff Zornow) which will no doubt please Godzilla enthusiasts. As exciting as the action is though, the way the larger than life action is presented is a tad bit confusing.
In the end though, the clever climactic revelation (which actually ties into the Godzilla film mythology) makes up for most of the shortcomings. More could be said about the ending, of course, but it’s really better to discover it on your own.
Overall Thoughts: “Godzilla: Rage Across Time” was an uneven series overall, but it had its moments.
