Halloween: The Complete Collection Blu-ray Set

Halloween- The Complete Collection Blu-ray Set

Michael Myers Is Coming Home To Blu-ray!

On September 23, 2014, fans of the “Halloween” series are in for a big treat as the long awaited 15 disc “Halloween: The Complete Collection” Blu-ray set makes its way to home video courtesy of Scream Factory, Shout! Factory, and Anchor Bay. For the first time ever, fans will finally be able to own a complete collection box set (and I do mean complete). Included in this behemoth set are the 1978 original “Halloween” (the first Blu-ray edition and the 35th anniversary edition versions are included here), “Halloween II” (theatrical and TV cuts), “Halloween 3” (which has nothing to do with the series as we all know), the underrated “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers,” “Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers,” “Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers,” “Halloween H20,” “Halloween: Resurrection,” and, yes, even the two dreaded Rob Zombie “Halloween” films (but let’s not dwell on those, shall we?).

The real gem of this set, however, is the inclusion of the Producer’s Cut of “Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.” After previously only being available as a bootleg, this fan favorite sequel version is at long last available LEGALLY. In case you don’t know what this version is all about, it’s basically an extended version of “Halloween 6” that adds much more to the story and Cult of Thorn storyline.

Aside from the main attractions, there are hours upon hours of bonus features (many of which are brand new). Each film disc contains extras like commentary tracks, featurettes, theatrical trailers, deleted scenes, original shooting location extras, and behind-the-scenes footage. The most noteworthy additions here are the 4 ½ hour documentary on Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” titled “Michael Lives: The Making of Halloween” and a bonus disc that contains making of featurettes for Halloween 4 and 5, the “Halloween Unmasked 2000” documentary, interviews, documentaries, still galleries, radio and TV spots, and, best of all, the extended TV cut of the 1978 “Halloween.”

In terms of video and audio quality, expect 1080p transfers of all the theatrical films and DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD tracks for just about all of the films. The often requested Original Mono track for the original “Halloween” is also included here.

If the 15 disc set is out of your budget range, a 10 disc set that simply includes all 10 films is also available.

Overall Thoughts: Having poured over a few sample discs, it’s safe to say that Scream Factory has outdone themselves here. It’s no secret that the “Halloween” series is one of the best horror film series of all time and this complete collection set is an absolute dream come true to those who can’t get enough of The Shape. Go out and buy this set if for no other reason than to finally own the “Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers” Producer’s Cut!
