2010 Holiday Gift Guide

2010 Holiday Gift Guide

With so many DVD and Blu-ray discs released each year, it can be a daunting task to know what to buy for friends, family, or loved ones during the holiday season. Luckily, we here at dvdcorner are here to help you out by providing a list of the best DVD and Blu-ray discs. So, without furthere adieu…

Nick’s Picks:

1. Alien Anthology Blu-ray Box Set- Hands down the best Blu-ray release of the year. With incredible picture quality and TONS of great extras, you can’t go wrong with this set.

2. Twilight Zone Season 2 Blu-ray- One of the greatest shows in television history gets a spectacular upgrade on Blu-ray.

3. Frozen Blu-ray- Looking for the perfect gift for the horror fan on your list? Then look no further than this gripping horror thriller about 3 college kids stuck on a ski-lift.

4. Ponyo Blu-ray- A Miyazaki film in 1080p= bliss.

5. RiffTrax Live- Christmas Shorts-Stravaganza DVD- Looking for a Christmas themed DVD? Then check out the hilarious RiffTrax comedy troupe (made up of former “Mystery Science Theater 3000” cast members) mock silly Christmas short films in front of a live audience.

6. Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 2 Blu-ray- The force is strong with this underrated animated series.

7. Cinematic Titanic Live- Danger On Tiki Island DVD- Cinematic Titanic is another comedy gang made up of former “Mystery Science Theater 3000” cast members. Like the RiffTrax disc, this DVD contains a live show in which the talented comedians mock a cheesy feature length 60’s sci-fi/horror flick.

8. Doctor Who- Remembrance Of The Daleks: Special Edition DVD- When it comes to classic “Doctor Who,” it doesn’t get any better than this release. Not only is ‘Remembrance’ a fun, action packed seventh Doctor era episode, but the set itself is loaded with extras and a fantastic Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track.

9. Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Parts 1 and 2 Blu-rays- I was blown away by the video and audio quality of this remastered, altered version of “Dragon Ball Z.”

10. Grindhouse Blu-ray- The full theatrical version of “Grindhouse” is finally available for the first time on disc and this set was well worth the wait.
