“Contact” still holds up as a great work by Robert Zemeckis and actress Jodie Foster.

This thought provoking film is given great treatment by Warner for its Blu-Ray debut and the film is still powerful in its impact on the viewer, even though some of the news footage is dated and personalities have changed. Zemeckis used the same process he used in “Forrest Gump” to interface real life politicians (Bill Clinton) with his actors in the film, a move which became very controversial at the time.
The story by Carl Sagan is timeless however and you will be pondering its meaning long after its viewing, much like 2001.  It is highly recommended.
