Top 5 Movies Based On Toy Lines

With “Masters of the Universe” now in theaters, I thought today’s list should be dedicated to my personal favorite films based on toy lines (in no particular order).

1. Bumblebee- Before he went on to direct “Masters of the Universe,” director Travis Knight delivered the best Transformers film to date with this fun coming-of-age 80’s set story.

2. The Lego Batman Movie- Legitimately one of the best Batman films. Not only is it a shame this doesn’t get nearly enough love, but it’s a downright crime we never got a sequel.

3. Dungeons And Dragons: Honor Among Thieves- Is a tabletop game a toy or an offshoot of a toy? I’m not here to debate the topic. What I will say is Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s fantasy movie is an absolute blast for RPG gamers and non RPG gamers alike. Much like “The Lego Batman Movie,” this should have been a franchise.

4. Piece By Piece- This one’s a bit of a cheat. Yes, it does feature Legos, but it’s not just a Lego movie. It’s a biopic, a musical, a documentary, and an animated film about Pharrell Williams all rolled into one. A truly unique cinematic experience.

5. Barbie- Who expected a film about dolls to be a quirky, creative, and existential iconic Oscar nominated film that would go on to become the highest grossing domestic release of 2023?
