Top 10 Films Of 2024

Due to the strikes and numerous films being delayed until 2025, 2024’s slate was relatively light. A lot of the high profile films didn’t pan out, but there were a number of indie and small budget films that made a splash. As per usual, there are a handful of films I have yet to see, but I will update the list accordingly if need be. On with the list!
1. I Saw The TV Glow- No film floored me more this year than this genre-defying indie about nostalgia, identity, youth, art, escapism, and pain.
2. Dune: Part 2- Denis Villenueve sticks the landing.
3. Strange Darling- A twisty thrill ride featuring an incredible career defining performance by Willa Fitzgerald.
4. A Different Man- One of the year’s best surprises is this ironic tale of identity. Sebastian Stan is in peak form here.
5. My Old Ass- A rewarding time-travel comedy that will move you in unexpected ways. Maisy Stella is bound to be a star.
6. Sing Sing- This deeply moving based on a true story drama deserved much more attention. Clarence Maclin gives one of the finest performances of the year.
7. A Real Pain- Kieran Culkin wows in this rich character study.
8. Hundreds Of Beavers- A zany cross between “Looney Tunes” and Charlie Chaplin. DIY cinema at its finest.
9. The People’s Joker- The best Joker film of the year was Vera Drew’s audacious DIY film that is part parody and part biopic.
10. Piece By Piece- A fresh and compelling approach to a documentary, a biopic, and a Lego movie.
