10 Random Recommendations Part 33

Given that the last installment of this series was back in August of last year, it felt like the right time to bring it back. Below you will find the usual 10 random recommendations of everything from albums and games to movies and a drink.

1. High School- The best series you don’t know about. A wonderful coming of age series/Tegan and Sara biodrama. Available on Freevee on Amazon prime.

2. Tulsa King- Now that the debut season of the Taylor Sheridan created crime drama series starring Sylvester Stallone has wrapped, it’s the perfect time to binge watch it. If you love mafia movies and shows, this will scratch that itch. 

3. Mountain Dew Energy- Pitch Black- Yes, the beloved Mt. Dew Pitch Black is back in stores too, but this new Energy drink version is easily one of the best in their Energy line of drinks.

4. Babylon- It may be underperforming at the box office and have mixed reviews, but this Damian Chazelle directed film is bound to become a cult favorite. It’s a wild, energetic, emotional and superbly acted piece about the transition from silent films to talkies (plus more).

5. UNO- Sure, everybody knows this easy to learn and addicting game, but did you know there are video game versions available on Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo Switch with all sorts of modes and content? The ability to play online with friends or strangers is also a fun bonus.

6. Reacher Season 1 Blu-ray- With season 2 on the horizon, now is as good of a time as any to check out the exciting first season based on the Lee Child Jack Reacher book series.

7. Sci-Fi Soldier- Get More Down- Phish fans, did you know the band released an album of their alter-ego group Sci-Fi Soldier? While a bit on the short side (especially compared to the long set the band did of these tunes), it’s a highly replayable album with first rate production values. 

8. Star Trek: Prodigy- A Star Trek animated series aimed at a younger audience may sound strange, but this surprising series turned out to be one of the best Trek series going right now. You can catch the entire 20 episode first season on Paramount+ now or pick up the Season 1 Volume 1 Blu-ray in stores now (which contains the first 10 episodes). 

9. Goose- Undecided- Goose gave the fans a special treat with an EP featuring 4 recorded songs from the Dripfield sessions. Truth be told, this EP is even better than “Dripfield.” 

10. The Criterion Channel- If you can’t afford Criterion discs, this streaming service is the next best thing. If you’re dismayed by the lack of classic films and international classics on other streaming services, The Criterion Channel is perfect for you.
