Wire Room Blu-ray Review

“Wire Room” is better than the average Emmett/Furla production. Make of that as you will.
In “Wire Room,” a veteran special agent (Justin) goes to work at his new job on the first day in the wire room ( surveillance center for suspects under criminal investigation). The room has their eye on a gun smuggling middle man for the cartel named Eddie who is lounging around his home. The job is said to be boring and uneventful, but surprise, surprise all hell breaks loose when Eddie becomes targeted for death. As details of the situation come out, Justin discovers that corrupt cops are in on this ordeal. Now, Justin has to break the rules and contact Eddie to try to keep him alive. Unfortunately, by doing so he also endangers his own life.
Directed by Matt Eskandari and scripted by Brandon Stiefer, “Wire Room” is a low-budget minimal location action-thriller in the vein of another recent Emmett/Furla film “Hot Seat.” It’s more of a situational twisty thriller so don’t expect much characterization…at all. The story doesn’t fare much better here as it’s full of lazy and convenient plot elements that put our film’s unlucky hero in intense and outlandish situations. Mostly though the story is more of an excuse to showcase action shootouts (of which there are more than a few) so at least it’s never boring.
Like with any Emmett/Furla produced film, the film relies heavily on star power. In the case of “Wire Room” there is Bruce Willis and Kevin Dillon. Dillon does the job despite his character being a bit of a dolt. Bruce Willis doesn’t have much to do as a hard ass on the verge of retirement but he does get to have an action scene. Despite an over-the-top accent, Oliver Trevena is clearly having the most fun here as the shady Eddie.
