Ranking The Conjuring Universe Movies

With “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” now in theaters and on HBOMax, it felt like the right time to take a look back on The Conjuring Universe filmography. Sure, I am not the only one doing this, but now it’s my turn! Below I have posted my own personal list of the 8 films in this series from best to worst. Enjoy!

1. The Conjuring- Was there ever any doubt James Wan’s film would be number 1? Not only is it one of the best horror films of the past 20 years, but it’s a legitimately scary movie (which is rare in my book).

2. Annabelle Comes Home- The third entry in the Annabelle franchise doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves. If I were to make an Annabelle movie, it would look a lot like this. It’s simply a fun haunted house movie with pure horror havoc.

3. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do it- A return to form for The Conjuring franchise. It may not bring much new to the table in terms of possession movies, but it’s intense and well made.

4. Annabelle: Creation- You don’t often see one let alone two sequels that are better than the original, but that’s the case with the Annabelle series. Director David F. Sanberg improved upon the original in every way here with the second installment.

5. The Conjuring 2- The Crooked Man and The Nun are both creepy as can be, but the rest of this sequel is a bloated, overlong mess.

6. Annabelle- The character of Annabelle was a smash hit in “The Conjuring” and we all wanted to see more of the creepy doll. The opening sequence of this spin-off is great, but unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. Luckily, the sequels made up for this misfire.

7.The Nun- I appreciate the setting and the refreshingly different atmosphere, but like “Annabelle,” The Nun was serviced better in her first on screen appearance.

8. The Curse Of La Llorona- There is some debate as to whether or not this is part of the Conjuring Universe but I believe it is. Unfortunately, it’s also the worst in the entire universe. This is one of those movies where the best parts are in the trailers.
