What’s Being Released In May 2021?

May is officially the start of the summer movie season and, as such, the studios are starting to release major titles. Viewers can also expect plenty of new offerings on the tube as well. This month is so packed that I had to exclude a few big titles such as “Cruella” and “Those Who Wish Me Dead” (both of which look very promising). Below I have listed the 10 most anticipated May releases. On with the list!

1. Star Wars: The Bad Batch- It feels like an eternity since “The Mandalorian” season 2, but Star Wars is finally back on the small screen with a new animated series that is essentially a Clone Wars sequel/spin-off. May 4 on Disney+.

2. Army of the Dead- Zack Snyder returns to the zombie world with a new big budget release that could very well start a new franchise. May 21 on Netflix.

3. Weezer- Van Weezer- Weezer’s long delayed tribute to Van Halen/arena rock is finally being released on May 7.

4. Spiral: From The Book Of Saw- This new entry in the Saw series seems poised to take the franchise in a new direction. The casting of Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson alone has me super curious. May 14.

5. The Underground Railroad- Barry Jenkins goes from the big screen to the small screen with this new Amazon series. May 14.

6. M.O.D.O.K.- The popular Marvel villains gets the spotlight in this new animated comedy series on Hulu. May 21.

7. Jupiter’s Legacy- The first Mark Millar/Netflix collab project is headed to Netflix May 7. This one is a sci-fi superhero story that is based on the comics of the same name.

8. A Quiet Place 2- The hotly anticipated and long delayed horror sequel appears to be hitting theaters May 28. Unless it’s delayed again.

9. Master of None Season 3- At long last one of the best TV series returns to Netflix! Currently undated.

10. Speed 4K- One of the best 90’s action movies/Keanu Reeves movies races to 4K on May 4.
