Star Wars: The Mandalorian- Allies And Enemies, A Clan Of Two and Junior Novel Book Reviews

Disney-Lucasfilm Press release a trio of new “The Mandalorian” tie-in books.

After a jaw-droppingly awesome season 2, three new “The Mandalorian” books have just been released courtesy of Disney-Lucasfilm Press. Alas, none of these original stories nor do they center around season 2. Disney is still playing catch up here as these 3 books deal with the events of season 2.

“Star Wars: The Mandalorian- Allies and Enemies” is part of the World of Reading line of books. This one is aimed at Level 2 readers (first and second graders) and is written by Brooke Vitale with comic book style character and scene art by Tomatofarm. This book is essentially a roll call of characters from the debut season such as Din Djarin, The Child, Moff Gideon, IG-11, Cara Dune, even Peli Motto. The focus is, of course, on the allies and enemies of the show’s leads Din Djarin and The Child. The book provides a nice quick primer on the characters for a younger crowd no more, no less. Keep your eyes peeled for a  keyword list directory and 2 pages of stickers at the back of the book.

“Star Wars: The Mandalorian- A Clan Of Two” is a children’s book that also contains 2 pages of stickers. Once again, Brooke Vitale is the writer and Tomatofarm does the art (there are even reused pieces from ‘Allies’ only in a bigger size). This book essentially summarizes the main events of season 1’s adventures of Din and The Child who are being pursued by Moff Gideon. Don’t expect this book to be a comprehensive look at the entire season though as it only singles out some episode plots.

Lastly, there’s “Star Wars: The Mandalorian: Junior Novel” which is adapted by Joe Schreiber. In terms of written content, this book provides the most substantial amount given that it is 198 pages. It is a faithful albeit truncated retelling of season 1 with 8 pages of color photo stills. If you or your child can’t get enough of Mando, this is the perfect book to relive the show AND get some reading in. The book even includes direct quotes from the series.
