Cats And Dogs 3: Paws Unite! Blu-ray Review

Two paws down.

“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.”

After years of feuding, a truce is in place for cats and dogs with an organization dubbed Furry Animals Rivalry Termination (AKA FART) in place to stop any threats. The story focuses on 2 FART monitors named Roger (a dog) and Gwen (a cat) who moonlight as pets for an overworked tennis playing teen (Max) and a shy teen musician (Zoe) respectively. Roger and Gwen are called into action when FART is hacked by a villainous organization (Pets of the Out of the Ordinary Pedigree AKA Poop) led by Pablo the cockatoo. Moreover, POOP also cause chaos between cats and dogs again with a frequency that causes them to quarrel. Elsewhere in the story, the lonely and lost Max and Zoe begin to bond and discover what they need in life.

10 years after the sequel, a third entry has been released titled “Cats And Dogs 3: Paws Unite!” It should come as no surprise that the PG rated family film directed by Sean McNamara will almost exclusively appeal to a very young audience and or fans of the first 2 films. I can’t imagine it having much appeal outside of those groups because, well, the Scott Bindley scripted story is rough. Sure, the actual animals are cute and all, but unless you adore groan worthy jokes (ala the FART acronym), animal puns like “What the feline is that?,” gratuitous fake paws, a dog driving a car, and pathetic running jokes like cat nap and Fish not counting, it seems unlikely that this will be placed on anyone’s watch list.

One would think the animals would and should be the main attraction, but I honestly found myself more interested in the teen drama between Max (Callum Seagram Airlie) and Zoe (Sarah Giles). It was a welcome distraction from the lame potty humor and dopey antics. Not that that says much…
