47 Meters Down: Uncaged Blu-ray Review
“47 Meters Down: Uncaged” sinks.
In this sequel to “47 Meters Down” (which has none of the same cast), the story revolves around Mia and her stepsister Sasha blowing off a Great White Sharks boat ride tour to explore an underwater Mayan city with Sasha’s 2 pals Nicole and Alexa. What could possibly go wrong? Naturally, everything does as they encounter sharks, get lost, run low on air tanks among other dangers.
After “47 Meters Down” turned out to be a surprise hit at the box office, it was inevitable that a sequel was going to be made. Unfortunately, “47 Meters Down: Uncaged” is a rushed cash grab if there ever was one. Not only does the Johannes Roberts and Ernest Riera scripted movie have the flimsiest of plots, but director Johannes Roberts seems to have forgotten that you need characters to care about, logic, and action that you can actually see. Many times you are merely seeing characters flail and shout in dark murky waters which doesn’t exactly make for a visually stimulating cinematic experience to say the least. Really, the movie only comes alive in the final minutes because it delivers what people were wanting and hoping to see for the whole movie- sharks and intense action that you can actually see.
The cast comprised of the likes of John Corbett, Brianne Tju, Sistine Stallone, Sophie Nelisse and Corinne Foxx had a tough task acting primarily under water and in scuba suits, but they do the best they can with the roles they are given (which isn’t much sadly).
