Detective Bureau 2-3: Go To Hell Bastards! Blu-ray Review

“Detective Bureau 2-3: Go To Hell Bastards!” has everything you could want from a movie.
In director Seijun Suzuki’s “Detective Bureau 2-3: Go To Hell Bastards!,” the story revolves around a confident Detective (who has his own agency) named Tajima who works with the police on an undercover operation to protect and infiltrate a man named Manabe. Manabe is a gangster/witness that is being targeted by rival Yakuza gangs because they suspect he has been in on recent weapon robberies. How will everything play out in the end? That would be telling.
Aside from a few gross misogynistic moments, “Detective Bureau 2-3: Go To Hell Bastards!” is an engrossing movie that is part cop film, part spy film and part gangster film. That may sound like a lot to take in, but the movie strangely handles all of the elements (and tones) rather well. There’s so much to be entertained by here with 60’s go-go music, massive shootouts, striking imagery, stylish direction, quirky characters, doses of screwball esque humor, car chases, a random musical number and even some romance thrown in for good measure. All of this is told in a colorful, fast paced fashion. There’s no fat to be found in this movie whatsoever.
