Star Wars Adventures Issue 8 Comic Book Review

The 8th issue of “Star Wars Adventures” is another fun read.

The eighth issue of “Star Wars Adventures” kicks off with the second part of “Endangered” which is written by Sholly Fisch and drawn by Jamal Peppers. This “Star Wars Rebels” story continues the plot of Ezra, Sabine, Kanan and Zeb sneaking on board an Imperial vessel to save a culturally important bird. Eventually, they run into Hondo who is trying to steal the bird. He’s also released the other endangered creatures. All of them. As if that wasn’t enough, they have to avoid Imperial entanglements. It’s a messy situation to say the least.

Since “Star Wars Rebels” has recently ended, it’s always good to see these characters again even in comic form. It’s a predictable story to be sure, but you can’t go wrong with a Hondo story. As for the art, I dig it. It resembles the animated series which is all one can really ask for.

The second story is author/artist Otis Frampton’s “Tales From Wild Space: Gonk!” In this adventure a Jawa named Jitt falls for a Gonk droid but has to let go of it eventually. It’s a very simple story that isn’t exactly subtle in its message, but what really makes this story stand out is the artwork. It’s vastly different from the norm and has almost an indie comic feel. I’d really like to see Frampton’s art in more SW comics.

The comic closes out with a “Dispatches From Wild Space” piece with Emil answering another letter followed by a brief spotlight on Jawas. There’s also the usual cover art gallery and IDW comic ads as well.
