10 Most Anticipated San Diego Comic Con 2016 Panels

Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to attend SDCC myself, but that doesn’t matter. We all know the news and trailers that come out of Geek Mecha is worth getting pumped up for. While this is by no means a comprehensive list of the panels to keep an eye on this week, headlines are almost certain to be coming out of these 10. So, here are the most anticipated panels in no particular order.

  1. Warner Bros. Pictures- This jam packed panel will offer first looks at numerous upcoming films, but I’m most excited to (hopefully) see footage of “Kong: Skull Island” and “Wonder Woman.”
  1. Spotlight On J. Michael Straczynski- The panel description reads “Be there for news that’s going to blow up the Internet.” Are we going to hear about a new JMS show? Will “Babylon 5” be resurrected? Is “Sense 8” season 2 getting a release date? So many possibilities here.
  1. Star Trek- Of all of the panels this year, the 50th anniversary celebration panel might just be the most promising as Trek fans might finally learn of a title and full cast breakdown for the long awaited new TV series.
  1. CW DC TV Series- I’d be shocked if we didn’t get at least some new plot and character information regarding “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Arrow.”
  1. Mystery Science Theater 3000 Is Back- As a longtime Mistie, I can’t wait to get some details on a release date, a release platform, and what movies will be riffed.
  1. Marvel Studios- Obviously “Doctor Strange” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will be the spotlights here, but I fully expect some major surprises too.
  1. Double Dare- This is not so much a panel as an event. On July 22 9:30 p.m. PT, fans will get a live stream of a brand new “Double Dare” hosted by Marc Summers. A real treat for 90’s Nickelodeon fans like myself.
  1. Marvel Television: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- Is Ghost Rider really going to be in season 4? Let’s hope we get a confirmation!
  1. Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets- Luc Besson returns to the space opera genre with an adaptation of the popular French sci-fi comic series. This could turn out to be another “Jupiter Ascending,” but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was really curious to see what this looks like.
  1. Welcome To The Whedonverse- Here’s hoping the Dark Horse Comics Whedon panel will provide scoops about new “Serenity” comics and the much talked about new Whedon comic series “Twist.”
