Idle Hands Blu-ray Review

Idle Hands Blu-ray

“Idle Hands” is a watchable teen horror-comedy.

Stoner/slacker Anton finds his life being turned upside down when he discovers that is hand (which has become possessed by a demonic spirit) begins to murder people (including his parents and 2 pals). While he tries to find a solution to his devilish new dilemma, Anton also begins to develop a relationship with his cute neighbor Molly at the worst time possible. Knowing that Molly’s life is in danger, Anton has to race against time to stop his hand from creating further chaos. Along the way, viewers can also expect subplots involving his 2 dead pals returning from the dead and a Priestess named Debi whose mission in life is to conveniently hunt and destroy the evil spirit that is on the loose.

“Idle Hands” (which can best be described as part “Can’t Hardly Wait,” part “Half Baked,” and part “Evil Dead 2”) is the type of oddball film that you’d only see in the 90’s. Much like “Scream,” “Idle Hands” was designed to be a humorous take on the slasher drama although this far more slapsticky and goofy than any of the “Scream” films. While the film was a financial failure at the box office, the movie itself is never boring. Is it dumb? You bet, but thanks to the impressive special and makeup f/x, a few amusing Seth Green line deliveries, an Offspring cameo, and some inspired spazzy acting by Devon Sawa, ‘Hands’ is certainly worth a gander if you’re in the mood for some mindless entertainment.

Presentation: 1.85:1 1080p. How does it look?  This hi-def transfer is certainly an upgrade from the DVD.

Audio Track: 5.1 DTS-HD MA. How does it sound? From the fun song inclusions (featuring the likes of Offspring and Rob Zombie) to the dialogue heavy moments, this track delivers.

No extras have been included.
