Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure Blu-ray Review

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure Blu-ray

“Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure” is indeed most excellent.

You all know the story. Rufus travels from the future to the past via a time traveling phone booth to help San Dimas high school dudes Bill and Ted ace their history report in order to save them from failing their class. A failure to salvage their grades would impact the world’s future to an alarming degree as Bill and Ted are destined to become cultural heroes and Rock Gods.

Make no mistake about it; “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” is a fun, well written comedic romp through time with two goofy heroes at the center of it all. Keanu Reeves (in a role he was born to play) and Alex Winter make the perfect duo with their electric on screen chemistry and effortless ability to deliver hilarious lines that would go on to become beloved catch phrases.

The supporting cast is equally appealing here as it’s made up of actors and actresses portraying iconic historical figures such as Napoleon, Billy the Kid, Socrates, Joan of Arc, Genghis Khan, Abraham Lincoln, Dr. Freud, and Beethoven. Terry Camilleri (Napoleon) is the highlight here as the water park, ice cream loving Napoleon. Of course, I can’t forget to mention George Carlin as Rufus (which was unquestionably his best film role).

The real reason everyone is reading this review is to learn how the disc looks and I’m happy to say this is an impressive looking catalogue title. The film, which is presented in 2.35:1 1080p, has really been cleaned up. San Dimas has never looked better or more colorful. Even the 80’s special f/x look good!

The 5.1 DTS-HD audio track does not disappoint either. From the rock music filled opening to the epic history report, this is a strong track through and through.

* Theatrical trailer and 5 radio spots.
* “One Sweet And Sour Chinese Adventure To Go”- An episode of the animated series.
* “The Original Bill and Ted: A Conversation With Chris And Ed”- “Bill and Ted” creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson chat to one another about the creation of the characters.
* “Air Guitar Tutorial With Bjorn Turoque And The Rockness Monster”- The two air guitar champions talk about their art and give people some air guitar pointers.

Summary: “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” is a flat-out fun comedy that should be required viewing. Now, where’s “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey” on Blu-ray?
