Did You Hear About The Morgans? Blu-ray Review
I wish I didn’t hear about “Did You Hear About The Morgans?”
The plot: After witnessing a murder, a separated married couple in New York are put into the Witness Relocation Program and sent to Ray, Wyoming while the police try and track down the killer. While in Wyoming, the couple is forced to stay together at a married sherriff/deputy’s house where they try and work out their issues. To make matters worse for the couple, the killer is attempting to track them down and eliminate them.
If you haven’t heard of “Did You Hear About The Morgans?” you’re not alone. The movie was dumped into theaters, bombed at the box office and rightfully so. ‘Morgans’ is a total disaster from start to finish. It’s an unwatchable fish out of water comedy about a couple trying to work through their problems. The film’s biggest offense is that it is devoid of ANY humor. The so-called comedic bits involving a bear and a Costco like store are laugh-free thanks to writer/director Marc Lawrence’s excrutiatingly bland script. How this ever made it into production, I will never know.
As if the lack of comedy wasn’t bad enough, stars Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker have absolutely zero chemistry together and they walk through the entire movie. I can’t say I blame them since no one in this entire production seems to care about their work here.
The 2.35:1 1080p picture quality is decent but hardly spectacular. Likewise, the 5.1 DTS-HD MA audio track does its job, but it doesn’t have much work to do. It’s a dialogue driven movie with the occasional bits of music and sound f/x like a bear growling.
