Top 10 Series Of 2025

2025 proved to be a rather underwhelming year for TV and streaming series as there were a string of disappointments and a lack of memorable scripted fare. With that said, there were still highlights. Below I have listed my 10 personal favorite series along with some notable favs. On with the list!

1. Pluribus- Vince Gilligan returns with an unpredictable and thought provoking original sci-fi series starring the ever underrated Rhea Seehorn. 

2. Adolescence- The best series to come out of nowhere. An absorbing and technically mind blowing British crime drama.

3. The Studio- A hilarious satire of the film biz. 

4. Doctor Who- A lot of fans were critical of the new season, but to me it was the most entertaining and surprising since Matt Smith’s tenure. It was a treat to see the return of characters long absent in the long-running franchise.

5. Alien: Earth- Since the underrated “Alien 3,” the Alien franchise has been in shambles. This thrilling Noah Hawley series brought the franchise back to the glory days.

6. Mr. Scorsese- An insightful documentary series about Martin Scorsese that really shows you how his upbringing and life experiences were channeled into his art.

7. The Chair Company- The rare series that somehow gets weirder and funnier with each passing episode.

8. Andor- Not quite on the level as season 1 for me, but still a triumphant season that opened up the Star Wars universe in vast ways. More Star Wars like this, please. 

9. Celtics City- It may not have been a memorable year for TV as a whole, but it was a memorable year for sports documentaries. This series was easily the best sports doc as it tackled everything from Boston’s dark history to the history of the NBA and the Celtics franchise. 

10. Star Wars: Visions- The third and perhaps best season offered up some wildly creative stories including “Black.”

Notables: “Cobra Kai,” “Creature Commandos,” “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” “Hard Knocks,” “Reacher,” “Yellowjackets,” “1923,” “The White Lotus,” “Onside: MLS,” “The Clubhouse: A Year With The Red Sox,” “The Last of Us,” “Light and Magic,” “Star Wars: Tales Of The Underworld,” “Squid Game,” “Quarterback,” “Tulsa King,” Beavis And Butt-Head,” “Faceoff: Inside The NHL,” “Lowdown,” “The Beatles Anthology,” and “Starting 5.”
