Top 15 Discs Of 2025

Normally, I would be posting a Gift Guide around this time, but I decided to mix it up this year. Instead, I have whipped up a list of my 15 favorite discs that I reviewed in 2025 (in no order). Of course, these titles would also make for great gift ideas for the holiday season. Enough of my yammering, on with the list!

1. 007: The Sean Connery 6-Film Collection 4K- For the James Bond aficionados out there, it doesn’t get any better than this set. Not only do you get some of the best Bond movies (and action movies), but you get incredible new 4K transfers that are well worth the upgrade.

2. The X Trilogy Blu-ray-”X,” “Pearl,” and “MaXXXine” are collected here in a snazzy new box set from A24. Also available on 4K.

3. A Nightmare On Elm Street 7-Film Collection 4K- Freddy fans, rejoice! All 7 films have been given the 4K treatment at long last.

4. The Drew Carey Show- The Complete Series DVD- One of the 90’s best sitcoms finally arrived on home video.

5. Shin Godzilla: Deluxe Collector’s Edition 4K Box Set- Godzilla has been in top form the past 15 years and this is one of the 10 best Godzilla films to date.

6. Side Street- Warner Archive is known for putting out classics and forgotten gems like this 1949 film noir.

7. Prince Of Broadway Criterion Blu-ray- After the award-winning “Anora,” Sean Baker has risen in popularity. Do yourself a favor and scoop out his past films including this deeply underrated indie.

8. The Searchers 4K- Technically this was out last year, but I reviewed it this year. I’ve seen this John Ford western multiple times, but with this new 4K disc, it felt like I was watching it anew. The transfer is that extraordinary.

9. CODA 4K- It only took 4 years, but the Oscar winning drama-comedy has finally been given a physical release.

10. One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest 4K- Simply one of the all-time great movies. A must own.

11. Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks Volume 3 Blu-ray- The D is always worth celebrating.

12. Corpse Bride 4K- Every once in a while a 4K transfer comes along that blows you away. This is one of those transfers.

13. Superman 4K- James Gunn’s take proved to be refreshingly unique. The disc is also loaded with extras and superb video and audio quality.

14. Cronos Criterion 4K- Sometimes when you revisit a movie you see it in an entirely new way. That’s the case with Guillermo del Toro’s first film which is a clever take on vampires.

15. The Mask 4K- Arrow Video’s new disc is sssmokin.
