10 Random Recommendations Part 48

You know the drill. Here we go.
1. Alien: Earth- 2 episodes in and this is already the best Alien we’ve seen since “Alien 3.”
2. Goose: Chain Yer Dragon- The surprise album release from last week is the band’s best since “Shenanigans Nite Club.”
3. The Shadow (1994)- I’ve been on a real pulp adventure movie kick lately as it’s a genre near and dear to my heart. I’ve seen this film a number of times since its release, but it has aged surprisingly well aside from a few odd moments.
4. Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins- While on the short side, this immersive mystery video game is a must for “Doctor Who” fans (especially if you love the episode “Blink”).
5. The Habit Burger And Grill- This burger joint is starting to expand more and more. If you have one near you and have never been, scope it out. I recommend the Santa Barbara Char.
6. Elvis Presley: Sunset Boulevard- I’m a big fan of these archival Elvis releases and this new 5 disc set featuring recordings and rehearsals at the Sunset Boulevard Studio is a must hear for any Elvis fan.
7. Superman Returns Score- If your love of Superman was reignited by the release of the new film, I recommend listening to (or re-listening to) the score for the underrated “Superman Returns” by John Ottman.
8. Batman ‘89- For anyone that loved Tim Burton’s “Batman” and “Batman Returns,” this comic mini-series/graphic novel is a respectable follow-up featuring Two-Face and Robin. There’s also a 2nd volume dubbed “Echoes.”
9. The Citadel Blu-ray- If you’re fond of classic movies, check out the recent release of the Academy Award nominated 1938 film “The Citadel” from Warner Archive.
10. Americana- It may have bombed at the box office over the weekend, but this quirky Tarantino esque crime thriller was a pleasant surprise.
