What’s Being Released In August 2025?

Summer may be winding down, but August is still bringing some hot new film, TV and music offerings especially. Below I have spotlighted 10 of my most anticipated releases. 

1. Alien: Earth- Writer/showrunner Noah Hawley is going from the fantastic “Fargo” TV series to crafting an “Alien” prequel. Can’t wait to see what he cooks up. August 12th on Hulu.

2. Nobody 2- The first film turned out to be a pleasant surprise if for no other reason than to see the team-up of Christopher Lloyd, RZA and Bob Odenkirk. Let’s hope the sequel is a worthy follow-up. Aug. 15th in theaters.

3. Elvis Presley: Sunset Boulevard- Always down for more archival studio sessions with The King. Aug. 1st on CD, Digital, and Vinyl.

4. King Of The Hill: Season 13- I tell you what, after a 15 year hiatus, Mike Judge is bringing back the beloved animated sitcom for a 14th season on Hulu Aug. 4th. 

5. The Hives: The Hives Forever Forever The Hives- The Swedish rock band that keeps on rockin’ is back with a brand spanking new album Aug. 29th.

6. Peacemaker Season 2- I think we were all skeptical about season 1 but it defied any and all expectations and turned out to be one of the best DC shows period. Can season 2 live up to the debut season. Aug. 21st on HBO Max. 

7. The Toxic Avenger- The long delayed reboot is almost here. I’m curious to see what a bigger budget Troma film will look like, but I’m much more curious to see what writer/director Macon Blair has up his sleeve. Aug. 29th in theaters. 

8. Weapons- Early word is this horror film is a warped instant classic. We’ll see if it lives up to the hype. Aug. 8th in theaters. 

9. Hell House LLC: Lineage- One of the best modern horror franchises is back with a new installment. Aug. 20th in theaters.

10. Caught Stealing- Austin Butler + Matt Smith + + Zoë Kravitz + Darren Aronofsky? Sold. Aug. 29th in theaters.
