Ranking The Jurassic Park And Jurassic World Films

With “Jurassic World Rebirth” in theaters for the holiday weekend, now is as good of a time as any to reflect on the Jurassic franchise with a brand new ranking of the films.

1. Jurassic Park- Let’s be real, Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” will never be topped by any sequel. Its influence on blockbuster cinema was immense and it captured the imagination of children and adults alike back in 1993. It was a true game changer and its special effects were so extraordinary that they still hold up better than the latest Jurassic films somehow.

2. Jurassic World Rebirth- Gareth Edwards was the right man for this job. Although it pays a bit too much homage to past films, the new cast and exciting mission based story propel this entry into being the best sequel.

3. The Lost World: Jurassic Park- A disappointing follow-up, but it still has some memorable moments involving Raptors and the T-Rex in San Diego. It may be one of Spielberg’s weakest movies, but his weakest movie is still better than most.

4. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom- The second World film gets a bad wrap, but this one takes some big risks to shake up the franchise.

5. Jurassic Park 3- Not even Joe Johnston and Alan Grant could save this stale third installment.

6. Jurassic World- A soulless rehash of “Jurassic Park.”

7. Jurassic World Dominion- I am not being hyperbolic when I say this is one of the worst films ever made. Mixing legacy characters in with the new cast should have been a home run. Instead, we get a cartoony and fan service filled story that devotes a lot of story time to…locusts?

  1. Jurassic Park is the best and the only worthy JP movie to watch. Things went downhill since The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
