10 Random Recommendations Part 47
There’s a lot of movies, shows, albums, and so forth out there that need more attention. I’m here to help.
1. The Life Of Chuck- Mike Flanagan takes on another Stephen King adaptation only this one is not a horror story. Instead it’s a truly beautiful story about life told in reverse. It’s a shame the theatrical release and promotion was so mishandled as this is easily one of the best films of the year.
2. Galactic Empire- Self-Titled- If you love Star Wars and metal music Galactic Empire has you covered as the band does fantastic metal covers of the great orchestral music of Star Wars on their debut album.
3. The Studio- One of the year’s best shows is this Seth Rogen starring comedy about a Hollywood studio.
4. RiffTrax: Friends Subscription- There are a million streaming services out there, but did you know RiffTrax has their own? For $5.99 a month you have access to hundreds of movies and shorts with hilarious joke tracks by the RiffTrax trio Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett and Mike Nelson (as well as other joke crews). It’s an absolute bargain for the price.
5. The Drew Carey Show- The Complete Series DVD- One of the best 90’s sitcoms gets a complete series at long last!
6. Grateful Dead: The Music Never Stopped- If you want to experience live Grateful Dead music this 3 disc set featuring tracks from numerous years is a great starting point.
7. Bob Trevino Likes It- This true story based indie about a friendship is a real emotional tear jerker. Seek this one out immediately.
8. Friendship- Tim Robinson is absolutely hilarious in this intentionally cringe comedy about friendship and family.
9. Oliver! 4K- The classic award-winning musical gets a stunning restoration.
10. The Legend Of Ochi- 2025 has been a year of under-the-radar movies like this strange and heartwarming A24 fantasy film.
