What’s Being Released In May 2025?

When it comes to the summer movie season, May is traditionally seen as the starting point. Sure, there will naturally be big blockbusters this month, but there’s something for everyone in terms of film, TV, video games and even theme parks. Read more to find out what’s in store.
1. The Phoenician Scheme- A new Wes Anderson film. Need I say more? May 30th in theaters.
2. Thunderbolts- In typical Marvel fashion as of late, they’re kicking off the summer with their latest star-studded feature. May 2nd in theaters.
3. Star Wars: Tales Of The Underworld- The latest in the animated Tales series focuses on fan favorites Cad Bane and Asajj Ventress. Bring it on. May 4th on Disney+.
4. Doom: The Dark Ages- If the trailers are any indication, this will be an absolutely wild and innovative FPS prequel game. May 13th on Xbox Series S/X, Windows and Playstation 5.
5. Karate Kid: Legends- Ralph Macchio AND Jackie Chan? The Karate Kid universe is about to get a whole lot more exciting. May 30th in theaters.
6. Final Destination: Bloodlines- It’s been 14 long years, but the beloved horror franchise is about to make its return. Can’t wait to see where the series goes next. May 16th in theaters.
7. Universal Epic Universe- Universal’s brand new theme park featuring Harry Potter, Universal Monsters, Mario, and How To Train Your Dragon lands is making waves. Will this be a groundbreaking theme park? Early word seems to be an emphatic yes. May 22nd opening.
8. Mountainhead- “Succession” creator Jesse Armstrong’s new comedy-drama HBO film starring Steve Carell. If that doesn’t grab your attention I don’t know what will. May 31st on HBO/Max.
9. Clown In A Cornfield- Based on the novel of the same name, this horror slasher is getting quite a bit of buzz from advanced showings. The more horror, the better! May 9th in theaters.
10. Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning- It’s hard to believe that this franchise has been going for 30 years. Sure, it has had its ups and downs, but it’s one of the rare series that actually improved as it went along. It remains to be seen how this 8th installment will be, but we all know Tom Cruise will go all out here once again. May 23rd in theaters.
