Top 10 Holiday Themed Slasher Movies

With the Valentine’s Day themed “Heart Eyes” due out in mere days, I thought I would whip up a new list dedicated to holiday themed slasher films. For the record, I didn’t count films like “Trick ‘r Treat” (not a true slasher) or “Friday The 13th” (not a true holiday).
1. Halloween (1978)- A no brainer. The “Citizen Kane” of holiday themed slasher films that spawned numerous imitations. It also just might be the greatest horror film ever made.
2. Black Christmas (1974)- Bob Clark is the Master of Christmas movies with “A Christmas Story” and this positively chilling slasher that features one of the creepiest endings of all time.
3. Midsommar- Ari Aster’s midsummer folk horror tale is a modern horror classic.
4. My Bloody Valentine (1981)- The 2009 remake is solid, but the original is a top tier 80’s slasher with a very unique setting.
5. Better Watch Out- What if “Home Alone” was a slasher with a big twist? The best Christmas themed slasher you probably don’t know about.
6. Terrifier 3- The Christmas themed third installment is arguably the best in the series thanks to David Howard Thornton’s utterly demented performance as Art The Clown.
7. Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)- A controversial cult classic Christmas themed slasher about trauma.
8. Thanksgiving- While the “Grindhouse” trailer is better than the actual film, Eli Roth’s feature length version is still a highly entertaining slasher. Worth seeing for the Black Friday sequence alone.
9. Leprechaun 2- The third film is the best in the franchise, but the second installment is the only one set on St. Patrick’s Day. Really, you can’t go wrong with any of the Warwick Davis Leprechaun movies. They’re all campy fun.
10. Terror Train (1980)- Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis stars in this rather underrated slasher set on a train during a New Year’s Eve party.
