10 Random Recommendations Part 45

Since January is a bit of a dead zone for entertainment releases, now feels like the perfect time for a new recommendations list.
1. It’s In The Game: Madden NFL- I didn’t see a lot of press for this documentary series, but it’s a fascinating deep dive into the history of the Madden video game series (and video game history).
2. Hundreds Of Beavers- What do you get when you mix a silent movie with “Looney Tunes”? You get this wacky and inventive indie film that turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of 2024. If you are uncertain about the first 20 minutes, stick with it. Once you get into the rhythm of the movie, you’ll be hooked.
3. Bob Dylan- Bringing It All Back Home- As a longtime Dylan fan, it’s refreshing to see the musician find a new fanbase courtesy of “A Complete Unknown.” If you’re looking to dive into his music more, allow me to guide you to the “Bringing It All Back Home” album.
4. Starlet- With his latest film “Anora,” director Sean Baker is fast becoming one of the most renowned modern filmmakers. Fans of the director should seek out his deeply underrated 2012 film “Starlet.”
5. Indiana Jones And The Great Circle- Not only is this the best video game of 2024, but it’s an immersive and thrilling experience that really feels like you are inside of an Indy movie.
6. Creature Commandos- Now that season 1 has wrapped, binge watch this new James Gunn animated series about the rag-tag team of superhuman criminals. It’s the perfect companion piece to “The Suicide Squad.
7. Red Rooms- This French-Canadian horror film deserves more attention. It’s a truly haunting and disturbing psychological character piece.
8. Daikaiju- Self-Titled- I’ve been on a bit of a surf rock kick and this modern Kaiju themed surf rock band is an absolute blast to listen to. If you don’t believe me, check out the check “Farewell To Monster Island.”
9. The Searchers 4K- Believe me when I tell you this 4K release will blow your mind. One of the best restorations I’ve ever seen.
10. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus- One of the great things about Xbox Game Pass is being able to randomly play games you might not normally seek out. This FPS turned out to be an intense thrill ride and will definitely appeal to fans of games like “Halo” or “Call Of Duty.”
