What’s Being Released In January 2025?

January is traditionally a slow month for the entertainment world, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some intriguing releases to kick off the new year.
1. Presence- Steven Soderbergh offers up a fresh take on a ghost story. I’m all in. Jan. 24 in theaters.
2. Wolf Man- It’s hard to top the 1941 original, but perhaps Leigh Whannell’s new version will be a welcome companion piece. Jan. 17 in theaters.
3. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man- While the wait for a new Spider-Man film lingers on, this new animated Spidey series will help pass the time. As an added bonus, it features Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Jan. 29 on Disney+
4. Severance- The fantastic mind bending sci-fi series returns for a second season Jan. 17 on Apple+.
5. Star Trek: Section 31- It’s hard to believe it has taken this long, but we’re finally getting a Star Trek TV movie. Jan. 24 on Paramount+.
6. Jackie Brown 4K- Quentin Tarantino’s most underrated film gets a 4K (and Steelbook) release Jan. 21.
7. Golden Globes 2025- The award show celebrating film and television is always a fun watch. Jan. 25 on CBS and Paramount+.
8. Goosebumps- As someone that grew up with “Goosebumps” in the 90’s, I wasn’t particularly thrilled by the first season. Hopefully the second season (“The Vanishing”) starring David Schwimmer fares better.
9. American Primeval- I’m always game for a western series. Jan. 9 on Netflix.
10. Screamboat- This could easily be an awful movie, but how can you not be curious about a Mickey Mouse/Steamboat Willie slasher movie starring David Howard Thornton of “Terrifier” fame? Jan. 24 in theaters.
