4Ks:
* Dune: Part 2- One of 2024’s best films.
* MaXXXine- Ti West’s X trilogy closes out with an intense final chapter set in Hollywood.
* A Nightmare On Elm Street- Freddy in 4K at long last!
* Blue Velvet (Criterion)- One of David Lynch’s best films gets a superb Criterion 4K release.
* The Fall Guy- Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are positively charming in this action-comedy.
* Demons- An Italian horror classic set inside a movie theater.
* The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes- A prequel that is arguably the best in the entire franchise.
* SIlent Night, Deadly Night- A demented Christmas horror classic.
* Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy- Still one of the best comedy films of the past 20 years.
* Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire- Pure Kaiju bliss.
* Godzilla Minus One- Didn’t get this one for review, but it just might be the best Godzilla film ever made.
* Silver Bullet- A top tier werewolf movie/Stephen King adaptation.
* The Boy And The Heron- Need a gift for a Miyazaki fan? This will do.
* Kung Fu Panda 4- Everyone’s favorite animated panda returns for another winner.
* Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga- George Miller returns to the Mad Max universe with this ‘Fury Road’ prequel.
* Wonka- A surprising, sweet, and heartfelt prequel.
* La Femme Nikita (Steelbook)- Luc Besson doing what he does best.
* The Departed- Martin Scorsese’s award winning twisty gangster movie remake.
* The Terminator- James Cameron’s sci-fi original is back…on 4K.
* The Bikeriders- Austin Butler + Tom Hardy + Bikers= A winning combination.
* Perfect Days (Criterion)- A perfect Wim Wenders film.
* A Quiet Place: Day One- The horror franchise is 3 for 3 with this prequel.
* Bob Marley: One Love- See it for Kingsley Ben-Adir, stay for the iconic reggae music.
* South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut- The big screen “South Park” film has aged incredibly well. Plus, that soundtrack rips!
* The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare- Guy Ritchie’s highly entertaining WWII mission film.
* Glory (Steelbook)- A top tier Civil War film.
* Lone Star (Criterion)- If you have yet to experience the cinema of John Sayles, this is a great starting point.
* Chinatown- A 70’s neo-noir classic
* Land Of The Dead- Scream Factory has put out a fantastic new edition of the late great George Romero’s underrated fourth zombie film.
* Blazing Saddles- A Mel Brooks comedy classic.
* American Movie- Documentary filmmaking at its finest.
* Trick ‘r Treat- A true Halloween classic.
* Twister- Sure, you can opt for the sequel “Twisters” too, but it doesn’t top the thrilling blockbuster original.
* Beetlejuice Beetlejuice- Tim Burton’s long awaited sequel hits home video just in time for the holidays.
* A Simple Plan- Sam Raimi’s dark neo-noir gets a new edition from Arrow Video.
* Once Upon A Time In The West- A spaghetti western classic.
* Can’t Hardly Wait- For the 90’s teen comedy lover on your shopping list.
* Killer Klowns From Outer Space- Scream Factory’s steelbook is a must for fans of this 80’s campy horror cult classic.
* The Crow (Steelbook)- The first and still best Crow movie. Accept no substitutes.
* Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker- A noteworthy 80’s cult horror film.

BOX SETS:
* Paramount Scares Volume 2 4K- It’s been a good year for horror box sets and this one containing “Friday The 13th Part 2,” “Breakdown,” “Orphan: First Kill,” and “World War Z” was a memorable one.
* The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: 50th Anniversary Chainsaw Edition 4K- By far the coolest set I reviewed this year was this epic box set containing a 4K and a VHS copy of the horror classic housed inside a chainsaw complete with sound effects.
* Danza Macabra: Volume 3- The Spanish Gothic Collection Blu-ray- Severin’s line of gothic horror titles continues with this box set containing 4 restored 70’s Spanish films including “Necrophagous,” anthology horror film “Cake Of Blood,” “Cross Of The Devil,” and “The Night Of The Walking Dead” (AKA “Strange Love Of The Vampires”). The set also features a mountain of extras such as commentaries, cast and crew interviews, video essays, appreciations, trailers, and more.
* Ocean’s Trilogy 4K- 3 cool all-star heist films for one low price.
* Universal Classic Monsters- Limited Edition Collection 4K- Horror fans are sure to love this oversized gift set featuring “Dracula,” “Frankenstein,” “The Invisible Man,” “The Wolf Man,” “Creature From The Black Lagoon,” “The Mummy,” “The Bride Of Frankenstein,” and “Phantom Of The Opera.”
* Columbia Classics Volume 4 4K- Another gem of a release from Columbia Classics. This set contains 6 romance classics: “Sleepless In Seattle,” “His Girl Friday,” “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner,” “Starman,” “Kramer Vs. Kramer” and arguably the best film here, “Punch-Drunk Love.”
* Rocky: Ultimate Knockout Collection 4K- After multiple set releases, all 6 Rocky films (plus the alternate cuts of “Rocky 4” and “Rocky Balboa”) are included together at long last.
* Hatchet- The Complete Collection Blu-ray Steelbook- For the first time ever all 4 films in Adam Green’s slasher franchise are collected in this fantastic steelbook release.

TV SHOWS:
* Curb Your Enthusiasm: The Complete Series DVD- One of HBO’s best and most acclaimed TV series gets a complete series DVD release (sorry, no Blu-ray yet). Yes, now you too can absorb all 12 seasons of Larry David’s pretty, pretty good cringe comedic antics and the fantastic 7th season featuring the “Seinfeld” reunion. The 24 disc set comes with the extras ported over from the previous DVD ala the commentaries and so forth.
* Suits: The Complete Series Blu-ray- Before “Suits: L.A.” premieres, why not binge watch the original series (or revisit it again)?
* Friends- The Complete Series 4K- Attention “Friends” fans- the mega hit 90’s sitcom gets a brand new 4K release.
* I Love Lucy: The Complete Series Blu-ray- One of the most celebrated sitcoms of all time comes to hi-def WITH “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour.”
* Dexter’s Laboratory: The Complete Series DVD- Genndy Tartakovsky’s 90’s animated classic.
* True Detective: Night Country Blu-ray- An eerie and engrossing new season.
* Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.- The Complete Series Blu-ray- Well golly! The classic “The Andy Griffith Show” spin-off is now available on Blu-ray.
* Succession: The Complete Series Blu-ray- One of the best series of the past decade finally gets a Blu-ray release.
* Ted Lasso: The Richmond Way Blu-ray- As it stands this 3 series set is the complete series, but there are rumors of more…
* The Flash: The Original Series Blu-ray- 1990’s “The Flash” works as a companion piece to the 2014 series.
* Billions: The Complete Series DVD- The popular Showtime drama about politics, business, and crime has wrapped and is now bundled up in this complete series box set.
* Extreme Ghostbusters: The Complete Series DVD- A worthy follow-up to “The Real Ghostbusters.”
* The West Wing: The Complete Series Blu-ray- Aaron Sorkin’s beloved series is one of the best political TV shows to date
* Magnum P.I.- The Complete Series DVD- The 2018 series (although the superior classic also has a complete series set).
* The Expanse- The Complete Series Blu-ray- One of the best sci-fi series in recent memory. It’s a shame it didn’t go on longer.
* Wednesday Season 1 Blu-ray- Still time to catch up before season 2 drops in 2025.
* Special Ops: Lioness Season 1 Blu-ray- Another Taylor Sheridan show worth your time.
* The Act: The Complete Series Blu-ray- A bonkers true crime story.
* Captain Planet And The Planeteers: The Complete Franchise DVD- The power is yours.
* Young Sheldon: The Complete Series DVD- The hit “The Big Bang Theory” spin-off is the latest series to get a complete series release.
* Rick And Morty Seasons 1-7 DVD- For the Adult Swim fans.
* Super Friends! The Complete Collection DVD- Vintage DC animated series. Also available on Blu-ray.

Blu-ray:
* The Nun’s Story- One of my favorite first time watches in 2024 was this Audrey Hepburn classic.
* Swingers- One of the best 90’s indie movies gets a Blu-ray re-release.
* Big Fan- An overlooked dark comedy about an obsessed New York Giants fan.
* Monster- You probably haven’t heard of this Hirokazu Kore-ada film, but now you have.
* Coup de Chance- Fans of Woody Allen should scope out his latest thriller.
* They Drive By Night- An underrated star-studded film noir.
* A Dog Called…Vengeance- One of the year’s best discoveries was this obscure 70’s political thriller.
* American Fiction- One of 2023’s best films.
* Oppenheimer- Relive the Best Picture winner again (also available on 4K).
* Boulevard Nights- An underrated street gang film.
* Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom- A lively, action-packed sequel.
* The People’s Joker- Forget about “Joker” and its sequel, this is the best Joker movie.
* The Triplets Of Belleville- A weird and original French animated film.
* Faster- A re-release of a Rock movie that is better than its reputation.
* An Elephant Sitting Still- An intimate and emotional Chinese drama.
* Amelie (Steelbook)- Funny, imaginative, and timeless.
* The Iron Claw- A heartbreaking and well acted biodrama about a family of wrestlers.
* Thanksgiving- ‘Tis the season for this Eli Roth slasher.
* Conflict- Humphrey Bogart stars in this little seen film noir.
* Black Mask- Jet Li and martial arts movie fans will go wild over this Eureka Entertainment release.
* Silent Night- A near wordless Christmas themed John Woo action extravaganza.
* Act Of Violence- Another overlooked film noir courtesy of Warner Archive.
* Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny- Tenacious D’s big screen movie is worth revisiting.
* Lynch/Oz- A fascinating documentary/think piece about the influence of “The Wizard Of Oz” and David Lynch’s work (and much more).
* The Miracle Fighters- An exciting oddball martial arts film.
* Eight Men Out- A great sports drama about the Black Sox scandal.
